Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or ½ tsp dried thyme)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
- ½ tbsp lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the mushrooms and cook without stirring for 2 minutes, allowing them to brown.
- Stir the mushrooms and cook for another 4-5 minutes until they release their moisture and begin to caramelize.
- Add the minced garlic and thyme, stirring for another minute until fragrant.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and optional lemon juice for extra brightness.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Avoid washing mushrooms under water; instead, wipe them with a damp paper towel to prevent sogginess.
- Substitute butter with ghee or olive oil for a dairy-free version.
- Works well as a topping for grilled meats, pasta, or risotto.
